Easter Thunderball Race Report 2007 - GB Racing

< return to race reports

Here we were, the car complete 2 weeks ahead of schedule, wondering how we ever managed to be race ready with time on our hands!
Would the winter mods work in our favour... nows the time to find out!

Ah well, qualifying wasn't that good to us, in fact it was surprisingly unsettling both mentally and physically... the most challenging  time we had experienced for some time.
Our lil ot rod wasn't gonna make it easy for us, just like a stubborn animal, it did just as IT wanted to!

Just as we thought we had it sussed it jumped up & kicked us back again!  Bob got us within 3/100ths, good enough for 16th, which in turn gave us the honour of racing no.3 man Jon Turner in his Barracuda. Against all expectations we
managed to get by him on a holeshot !!! shutting down to a 10.15 on a 9.90 dial.

We lucked out in round 2 as Rick McCann in the Heaven n Hell Camaro whipped up on me on the start line…..we were never really in the race & ran a breakout trying to play catch up!

On reflection, we consider this to be a reasonable success as we now know our spare converter works ok & our new one will be in the car for the Main Event. We are going back to last years set up 'cos "THE RACE IS ON & WE WANT TO BE PART OF IT"

See you at the   MAIN EVENT
