Testing at the Truck Fest 2008 - GB Racing

TESTING TESTING TESTING

Instead of sitting around kicking our heels for the 3 months in between events, we took the car down to Santa Pod to put in some demo runs at the UK Truck Show, in the hope we might learn some more about the new combo.

Over the weekend we were lucky enough to put in six runs.....4 of which were to be considered as acceptable as the strip left a little to be desired while the other ones were plain old fashioned FUN, with one of them covering 500+ yards in 10.1 seconds!!! The other run gave us a 9.9, accompanied with loadsa wheelspin !!

The four good runs were all straight & true and BLOODY CONSISTENT HA HA. We made wholesale changes before & throughout the event, mainly with carb, launch, shift & burnout & it seems that we are moving forwards.

Highlight of the weekend was without a dought being pitted beside tne new Top Fuel Dragster of John Best (?). The Bill Felstead built machine was here for some run up time as it was not possible for the team to run the car up in Romford !!!! After a few short run-ups on petrol, Bill sorted the idle & we had NITRO !!!!! Right under our awning !!!! Loads of it !!! Eyes stinging, throats too, ringing ears, broken cam corders !!! Then silence....followed by a round of applause & truck air horns saluting them !!!

Nightime saw a "CACKLEFEST" with many of the Supercharged Outlaws running their motors one after the other (thankfully drowning out the diesel drone !) & as afinal crechendo Bill & John once again fired up the mighty Nitro burner.........As it was late evening we again benefited from the noxious fumes under our awing & this time we got header flames !!!
